  • Wednesday will be a similar day

Wednesday will be a similar day with the surface high pressure remaining north of our region. This keeps the easterly winds in place across the Florida peninsula. Abundant moisture and surface heating will lead to another round of afternoon and evening thunderstorms with the highest chances along the sea breeze collision near and west of Interstate 75.

High temperatures will be in the low 90s Wednesday afternoon.

Surface high pressure near Bermuda ridges westward over the southeast U.S. This will keep an east-southeast wind flow across the peninsula on Thursday. This will allow for the east coast sea breeze to set up early in the day producing early afternoon showers and storms over the interior counties and then moving west toward the west coast. Thursday’s rain chance is 50%.

On Friday, the high shifts farther south as upper level trough and a weak cold front move through the southeast U.S. This will cause a shift in the winds to the south southwest that will affect the timing and location of storms over the area. In this pattern, storms will fire up over the Gulf coast waters during the late night and early morning hours, then move over the west coast counties late morning and then moving inland by early afternoon.

This weekend will be partly sunny with a 40% to 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms beginning in the morning near the coast and moving inland during the day.

As for the temperatures, not a lot of change is expected. Daytime highs will be around average with upper 80s along the coast and lower 90s inland. Overnight lows will remain in the mid-70s inland to some low 80s at the coast.
