Pasco County officials said a statewide mutual aid request has been sent.

Pasco and Hernando fire crews responded to the scene. Officials said the fire started in a generator room.

About 20 patients were being transported to other hospitals. There are nearly 300 patients who may need to be evacuated, and officials said critical patients would be evaluated first.

Forty ambulances were on the way to the hospital to help, some of them as far away as Orange County.

The fire was because of a wiring issue and was put out.
