An investigation is underway into a shooting at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Forbes Road in Plant City, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

One fatality has been reported. The victim was in his 40s but has not been identified, authorities said.

Officials say the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident at the intersection between two drivers.

According to investigators, the shooter tried to CPR on the victim, but the victim died at the scene.

MLK Boulevard is closed in both directions between Forbes Road and Turkey Creek and will remain closed for the next several hours, deputies said.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

There was no word on an arrest or charges. Authorities were talking to the shooter to find out what happened and if he was defending himself.
