More than 50 candidates running for political office in Hillsborough County packed a downtown Tampa ballroom for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 Political Hob Nob.

- Chance for voters talk to candidates
- Largest turnout ever, say chamber officials
The event gives people a chance to pick up campaign brochures and talk to local politicians about their stance on various issues, including business development.
"Business success means prosperity for everyone and we have to have good leaders and if we don’t have good leaders then we’ll all have a problem," said Guy King, Chairman of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce.
Christine Smith said she’s been coming to the Hob Nob for years. She said there are several things she’s asking candidates about.
"Transportation is always a big one, I think. Supporting our law enforcement and firefighters is important. We need that support in our community," she said.
David Miller said with all the focus on the national election, he’s happy to talk to people who could be making decisions locally.
"The local elections are probably more important because they affect us personally more than the bigger picture. I enjoy finding out something that’s going to affect me personally," he said.
Chamber officials said about 650 people attended the event which is the largest turnout it’s ever had.
