Orlando area

Copa America Centenario

Tens of thousands of fans are expected at Camping World Stadium to see Costa Rica take on Paraguay in the Copa America Centenario, which is being hosted outside of South America for the first time. Orlando is one of 11 cities across the U.S. hosting Copa America games. When: 5 p.m. Saturday. More information:

DeLand Watermelon Festival

Just as the weather’s heating up, cool off with this summer favorite at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. Try grilled watermelon and watermelon fudge (you read those right) and see a watermelon seed-spitting contest. When: Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. More information:

Gay Days

What started in 1991 as an unofficial single day visit to the Magic Kingdom has turned into a multi-day event attracting vacationers from across the U.S. to Central Florida. Where: Welcome Center and Expo at DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld; events throughout area theme parks. When: through Sunday night. More information:

‘Weird Al’ Yankovic

The Mandatory World Tour: The best-selling comedy recording artist in history starts the second leg of his world tour at The Mahaffey Theater on Friday night, June 3. If you haven’t seen “Weird Al” live, be prepared for costumes from his most memorable music videos, classic parodies along with original songs, and a lot of laughter. Darius Rucker

The one-time front man for Hootie and the Blowfish has taken his career in a whole new direction of late, taking the country music world by storm with award-nominated live performances as well as album cuts. Rucker brings his “Good for a Good Time” Tour to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater on Friday night, June 3. More info and tickets:

St. Pete Grilled Cheese Festival

More than 20 food and dessert trucks will be on hand at Ferg’s Sports Bar near Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, 1320 Central Ave., for this celebration of grilled gooey deliciousness. Live music courtesy of the Black Honkeys and Shevonne and the Bad Boyz will fill the air along with smell of food, and proceeds will benefit Wheels 4 Purple Hearts. When: starts at 11 a.m. Sunday.
